Introduction to Visual Basic 5.0 [PLP-B1]
5 day. This course will prepare the student to design and develop Visual Basic programs. The student will upon completion of the course, be able the develop applications that read and write from standard input/output devices and files, access the windows registry, are mail enabled, and can access local and remote databases. The student will be able to create excellent user interfaces that are based on solid user interfaces design principles. The use of sound application design and programming techniques will enable the student to write applications that are robust, will structured and that take full advantage of the capabilities of Visual Basic. Advanced Visual Basic 5.0 [PLP-B2]
5 day. This course builds upon the existing expertise of Visual Basic programmers and extends their knowledge and capability in developing applications using Visual Basic. The course addresses several topic areas frequently used in the creation of enterprise level applications including ActiveX technology: Creating objects, ActiveX EXE, ActiveX DLL, ActiveX Controls and ActiveX Documents. Database access options are examined including database concepts, Data Access Objects (DAO, Remote Data Objects(RDO), and ActiveX Data Objects (ADO. Access to the system environment, Addins and optimization techniques are also covered. Additional topics covered, depending upon student interest, include Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), Visual SourceSafe and Graphics. Exercises are used to re-enforce the concepts presented.
