Programming Workshop [ASP-L2]

- Audience:
- Application programmers, system programmers, and those
who have a need to write Control Language programs
- Description:
- This course provides instruction to the iSeries programmer
about OS/400 Control Language (CL) programming. CL programs
are used extensively on the iSeries to perform and automate
system and application functions. CL programming techniques
such as the use of program variables, retrieving data, working
with objects, and processing database and display files will
be discussed. Also covered are messages, message files and
queues; controlling program flow, as well as many other techniques.
Learn how to create your own commands. All course lectures
are reinforced with hands-on labs.
- Prerequisites:
- These prerequisites can be met through successful completion
of the iSeries Operations Workshop I and the iSeries Programming
Facilities course, or equivalent.

Arithmetic, relational and logical expressions

System values, concatenation and date conversion

Message queue and SNDUSRMSG command

Message files and substitution variables

Monitoring for execution errors
