RPG IV for RPG/400 Programmers [ASP-R2]

- Audience:
- This course is designed for programmers experienced with
the RPG/400 language (RPG III).
- Description:
- This course is designed to introduce experienced RPG/400
programmers to the RPG IV language and to some of the basic
concepts of the Integrated Language Environment (ILE) that
is used to create effective RPG IV applications.
- Prerequisites:
- wUse Program
Development Manager (PDM) and Source Entry Utility (SEU)
wCode, Compile
and Test structured RPG/400 programs
wUse Database
Files, Display Files and Printer Files in an RPG/400 program
- Topics:

Describe and list the benefits of the RPG IV language
over previous versions of RPG.
- ü
Describe the benefits of using basic Integrated Language
Environment features.
- ü
Migrate application programs from RPG/400 to RPG 1V using
the migration aid.
- ü
Code and compile RPG IV programs using new features of
the language, such as:

format of specifications

Data definition functions

date and time data types

duration support and expressions

Job structure and execution logic

Create RPG modules and bind those modules together into
an ILE program.

Create a service program from RPG modules and call procedures
in that service program
