Operators, administrators and IT professionals who need to implement and manage OS/400 security and auditing functions.
Description:
Are you responsible for implementing and managing Sysstem i (AS/400) security? Not sure what all the new V5 and V6 functions are and how to utilize them? Then this class is for you! Through lecture, labs and a case study, learn how to administer security on the System i. Gain the skills necessary to ensure security and auditing functions are implemented appropriately for your environment. Students should be able to perform all tasks listed in topics section of this course outline
Prerequisites:
You should have working experience with i5 OS Navigator and 'green screen' interfaces. These skills can be developed through the successful completion of System i Operations Workshop I class, or System i Technical Orientation for Programmers, or equivalent knowledge.
Topics:
ü Understand the components of i5 OS security and how to access them via iSeries Navigator and the 'green screen'
ü Understand how i5 OS checks authority for users and applications
ü Describe the audit facilities that are built into i5 OS.
ü Understand how to implement i5 OS auditing and to pull reports from audit data.
ü Describe an iSeries security and audit policy.
ü Understand new security functions in V5R1 Through V6R1.
ü Be able to manage user profiles, group profiles, authorization lists and security system values
