iSeries Operations
Workshop I [ASA-O2 ]
Duration: 4 days (instructor
led classroom).
- Audience:
- Operators, administrators, and IT professionals who are
interested in gaining a basic understanding of OS/400, the
iSeries operating system.
- Description:
- This lecture and lab course will develop the basic skills
necessary to manage day-to-day operations on the IBM iSeries.
Learn how the operating system works so you can effectively
assist your users and manage the system. This course applies
to V5 iSeries servers; however, the material is also appropriate
for AS/400 and AS/400e systems.
- Prerequisites:
- Some basic experience with the iSeries is helpful, but not
required. (Basic knowledge of PC's, Windows, and networked
systems is assumed.)
- Topics:

Learn how to control system operations using both graphical
(iSeries Navigator) and the text-based, green screen (PC5250)
interfaces.

Use CL commands and understand how to find CL commands.
ü
Monitor and control jobs, job queues, output queues and devices.
ü
Understand OS/400 save and restore commands, and how to determine
if your backup policy is appropriate for your installation.
